Construction of a building planned for a school canteen and out-of-school reception centre for kindergarten pupils on the existing school site.
The building includes 4 rooms with mixt uses school canteen/ activities and can be whether joined or separated.
Some additional premises, toilets, kitchen area, and an office management complete the building.
The building is made to be effective on the thermal and acoustic levels. A warm colour game on the façade makes the building eye catching on the site. With its colours, it looks like a sweet, the ‘Nantes Berlingot’.
The construction is made of wooden frames, concrete floor, wooden cladding, coloured laminated panels and a zinc roof.

The building includes on the one hand a new part made of timber frame resting on concrete slab and stilts. On the other hand, there is a rehabilitation area on which a Thermal Insulation was installed from the outside.
The entire building combines contemporary façades made of red wood and zinc and an existing part containing natural wood cladding, wood panels and grey cement.
Colours are used in the ‘Accueil de Loisirs sans Hébergement’ (ALSH: leisure facilities without accommodation) as references for the children.
Each room of the building benefits from a natural light.
The site has been organized to allow the activity leaders to have an easy supervision of each activity room, covered playgrounds and dining hall.

The area is divided in 3 wood buildings connected by a high bluish glass galleria. The construction is made of wooden frame raised above the floor thanks to concrete slab and stilts.
Some large wooden decks give access to the different premises and allow a connection to the gardens and playgrounds.
A multisport area completes the North equipment.
The project characteristics are:
- Sideboard areas and central heating
- Long views between the street and garden playgrounds
- Acoustics thought for each area
- Solar hot water recycled from rainwater
- Wood construction from dry process, BBC (Low energy house regulations)
-Respect and integration into the natural site (trees and ditches)

The facilities link a leisure centre for children, the town school canteen, the town library and meeting rooms for the local communal associations.
The building meets the standards of the low- energy consumption and the French ‘High Quality Environmental’ regulations.
Made of timber frame with a strengthened insulation (20 cm thick), the building includes solar panels generating hot water for the canteen dishwashers and double flow ventilation divided by areas.
The input of the natural light is thought for each space, the central patio embellishes the playgrounds and it is visible thanks to the long views from the hall to the garden.
Some facilities are shared between the library and the school canteen (changing room, toilets, exhibition hall and exterior play areas).
The belonging in the urban space is made by the main glass and coloured façade of the library and the enhancement of the old school rehabilitation.
A nearby car park, delivery areas for the school canteen and the library sideboard by the library bus complete the exterior project.

Multi-use day care centre for 20 to 22 children aged between 3 months to 3 years old.
Built on the site of the Pallet’s French train station (SNCF) and including the renovation of a former goods covered market, the project lies on the former loading docks at the south of the building.
Meeting the environmental standards and the Low Energy House Standards (BBC), the building is made of timber frame for the extended part.
The existing part has been renovated to accommodate the children’s bedrooms in a perfectly adapted acoustic atmosphere.
We can’t hear the magical train sounds anymore … What a shame!
