The sports halls (44mx24m and 24x24m) have been built to the south of the new secondary school in Héric city (Located in Loire Atlantique, France) and are organised by areas around the common changing rooms for secondary school students and the city’s sports clubs.
The main west façade is aligned with the soft mobility axis which links the sport complex, the secondary school and the Bruyères town hall.
Two materials harmonise the external façades:
-The Douglas fir, a European pine, in vertical cladding and horizontal openwork.
- Light-grey lacquered metal.
Wood gives the entire structure meaning with the wooden framework and timber frame walls and it is present in the inner cladding.
Coloured glazing highlights the different accesses to the hall and the changing rooms.
The construction meets the necessary requirements of the French ‘High Quality Environmental standards’.
The building has low energy consumption with strengthened insulation, a green roof and double flow ventilation.
Heating comes from hot water radiators positioned on the sports halls’ ceiling and on the changing rooms’ walls.
The internal acoustics are perfectly adapted for the sportsmen and women as well as the spectators.
The natural light goes to the heart of the building thanks to the box lights placed on the roof.
The rainwater salvaged from the roof feeds the district’s reservoir for fire control.

The sport hall is built at immediate proximity of Blairie Secondary school, south west of Clisson agglomeration. The sport complex (44x22) and the changing rooms- toilets are organised by following a rectangular plan creating two accesses for the equipment:
- 1 opened towards the secondary school
- 1 opened at the opposite side on the public car park
The visible materials seen on façade are the wood cladding fretwork Douglas dyed oak and dark grey metallic cladding.
On the inside, the wood dominates on walls and floors for the sport floor.
Some exterior wall sections have a mauve colour as a reference to the iconic red construction bricks from the Connétable city.
